Transportation & hotels

Air: registered “MARCO POLO” of Venice (www.veniceairport.it) is located near the town of Mestre, on the Italian mainland. You can go to the center of Venice:

  • by Ferry.  ALILAGUNA FERRIES must be registered in Piazza San Marco for € 15,00 (one way ticket, all lines).
  • by Taxi.  A road taxi to Piazzale Roma, the Venice road terminal, costs around € 40,00.
  • A water taxi can cost over € 100,00.
  • by Bus.  ATVO EXPRESS BUS for Piazzale Roma € 8,00 BUS ACTV number 5 (very crowded public transport cost under 8 euros).

Train: the Italian railways TRENITALIA (www.ferroviedellostato.it) lead to Venice “Santa Lucia” station, located near Piazzale Roma.

Car: Venice can be reached via the A4 Turin-Trieste motorway.  Public parking is available at the Isola del Tronchetto (21.00 € / day) or in Piazzale Roma (25.00 € / day).

Local: from Piazzale Roma, from Santa Lucia station, you can get on a vaporetto to move around the city.  A one-way ticket valid for 60 min: € 6.50

Due to the systematic tourism congestion in Venice, any time of the year, early Hotel reservations are most strongly recommended. The following places appear to be reasonably located:  information_package.pdf (BOTTONE)
